Life as a business services apprentice
To work at a law firm, you don’t need to be a lawyer - in fact, a quarter of the firm is made up of our Business Services teams. If you are unsure of what career path to take and would like to explore a variety of opportunities and get involved in diverse, exciting work, then our one-year Business Services Apprenticeship is for you. You’ll work within one of our expert teams (choosing from Business Information Systems (IT), Business Development and Corporate Communications, Compliance, Finance and Human Resources), all whilst studying for a Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration.
"There are many reasons why an apprenticeship at Gowling WLG is great, but the stand out thing that makes working here an invaluable experience is the constant support I get from my colleagues. They genuinely care about my personal development and they all try and to push me to be the best I can be."
Working at Gowling you’ll be listened to, respected, supported and empowered in order to excel in your career. There’s no typical apprentice and we really value people’s different skills and perspectives. We are on the lookout for school-leavers who are:
- Bright and intellectually sharp
- Driven and proactive, keen to do more, learn more and develop more
- Willing to challenge the norm and think broadly to find innovative solutions to complex problems
- Team players
- Prepared to go the extra mile
One of our apprentices, Jake Hendon - currently working within our finance department – said this of his experience so far: "I did think about university but I decided that I wanted to get out into the world of work as soon as possible and start a career. I specifically chose the Gowling WLG Business Services apprenticeship because it gave me options as to what departments I'd like to spend my time in. There are many reasons why an apprenticeship at Gowling WLG is great, but the stand out thing that makes working here an invaluable experience is the constant support I get from my colleagues. They genuinely care about my personal development and they all try and push me to be the best I can be."
