With a significant order book and billions of pounds poured into research and development, we don’t think you’ll find a more exciting range of projects to tackle. Whether we’re leading the journey to net zero carbon emissions, developing world leading gas turbines, record breaking electrical flight systems, building state-of-the-art facilities or providing nuclear-powered solutions: sound project management disciplines ensure we deliver our goals and meet our customers’ expectations – as well as our own. By combining theoretical learning with practical, on-the-job experience, our Project Management Degree Apprenticeship equips you with the skills you need to become a fully-fledged Project Management professional. And unlike university, we’ll pay you to learn, while giving you all the support you need to achieve a bachelor’s degree in a Project Management discipline. You’ll also achieve a professional qualification recognised by the Association of Project Management (APM).
The programme
Over four years, you’ll be getting to know our business and developing practical knowledge of project management techniques, tools and methodologies via a series of mentored placements. These rotations will take you to a variety of different areas of the company. Each placement will generally last six months to give you a real understanding of the area you’re experiencing as well as the project you’re working on, as part of your tailored development plan.
What you’ll do
As a Project Management Apprentice, you’ll be responsible for supporting or leading a range of different project types across Rolls-Royce’s portfolio by ensuring your projects meet customer and business expectations. These might include introducing new products or services, developing new facilities, or looking at the infrastructure for IT projects. You’ll develop professional experience using world-class tools and processes, learning from supportive professionals as you work towards your qualifications. The ability to plan with integrated teams, manage risk and use data analysis to control and manage your project will become second nature – you’ll be able to plan for every eventuality. Not only that, but you’ll also build a broad professional network, learning who to get involved in your projects and at what stage.
What you’ll need
3 A-Levels (or equivalent) obtained or predicted, at grade C in any subject (one must be a numerate subject at grade C). You’ll also need 5 GCSEs including GCSE Maths at a grade C/4 and GCSE English Language at a grade C/4 plus 3 other GCSE’s at grade C/4. We look for fast learners who are highly motivated and hungry for a career in project management. You’ll be a people person – someone with great communication and team working skills as well as leadership potential. Motivation, attention to detail, team-building skills and a willingness to learn are all important.
What you’ll get
